This stick door dates to ninteenth century India. They were used by the desert dwelling tribes of Western Rajasthan in their buildings which were made of mud and clay.
Wood is very scarce in the desert & doors, windows and furniture were made of sticks harvested from the Kair tree (Capparis decidua). The sticks are then riveted together with iron fittings. Hung on a wall they make stunning and unique pieces of wall art.
